Communication
The teachers make communication with parents a priority. Notes in students' daily planners help keep parents informed. Folders with class work and newsletters are sent home on Mondays. Edline, a personalized on-line program, and parent-teacher conferences help keep the home-school connection strong.
Spiritual Emphasis
Lower and upper elementary students meet for their own chapel service every week. Speakers include teachers, parents, and pastors. Once a month, character awards are given to a student in each class. Mid-year, a Spiritual Emphasis week helps students and teachers to focus on God in a special way.
Outreach
Community service outreaches help students minister to others and find the rewards of service for themselves and those they serve. Students participate in Operation Christmas Child along with ministering at the Grace Center of Hope in Pontiac. The children also enjoy collecting pillows and blankets for the Brightmoor Prayer House Mission as another outreach of FRCS.
Field Trips
All classes take field trips each year to learn from the community. The orchard, farm, schoolhouse at Greenfield Village, and fifth grade science camp are just some of the places our students go to learn.
Summer Reading Program
All students and parents are asked to read regularly over the summer in order to build critical language arts skills.

Fine Arts
The arts are important at Franklin Road Christian School. Our excellent fine arts teachers guide young students as they explore creative expression in many different art forms and musical performances.
The Elementary Art student's creativity and imagination is nurtured on an individual basis. They will explore a variety of media and are encouraged to release their God-given talent and ability in original works of Art
Music is a priority at Franklin Road Christian School. Each grade has vocal music twice per week. Instrumental instruction starts in fourth grade with the Recorder and then in Fifth Grade our students begin elementary band. Our band program continues into our MS/HS. The music department performs three concerts each school year, one at Christmas, one in the spring and one in February honoring Grandparents.
Spanish
FRCS has intentionally selected to teach only Spanish to our students. It is our goal that by the time they graduate from HS they will be able to communicate effectively in the Spanish language. As a result of this goal, we introduce Spanish in the Kindergarten program and continue teaching it through the elementary grades.
